Senior Tax Accountant - White Plains, NY

*Excellent opportunity for career and professional growth.  This role is focused on compliance but it will also give you experience in FAS109 and international tax. 

Reporting to the Director of Tax Compliance and Audits, this position requires the monitoring and analysis of financial and tax results of up to 100 U.S. and 90 foreign subsidiaries of ITT Corporation.  ITT is a high-technology engineering and manufacturing company with approximately 40,000 employees and annual sales of $11.7 billion in 2008.

Responsibilities:

·        Prepare domestic portions of ITT’s U.S. Consolidated Federal Income Tax return, partnership returns, trust returns, estimated payments and related State and Local tax returns.

·        Assist in preparation and review of FAS 109 computations with emphasis on domestic entities.

·        Assist with preparation of responses to ongoing Federal and State tax authorities examinations of ITT Corporation and Affiliated Companies tax returns.

·        Assist Tax Counsel with research and planning activities including tax accounting method studies, tax and stock basis calculations, state and local planning, etc.

·        Special projects as needed.

Education/Experience Profile:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

·        MS in Taxation or working towards a degree is preferred.

·        CPA or working towards certification is desirable.

·        Minimum of four years of tax experience in federal income taxation with emphasis on U.S. tax law as applied to corporations and with application of U.S. tax law to foreign operations of U.S. multinationals preferred.

·        Demonstrated ability to research and apply complex tax law to both proposed and completed transactions; knowledge of accounting theory and practice.

·        Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
